'Dida' eyes first silverware
Azam FC goalkeeper Deo Munishi 'Dida' is looking forward to winning his first silverware since joining the Ice-cream makers from Mtibwa Sugar this year.
Azam FC have reached the final of this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup which will be played on Saturday at the National Stadium, and the 23 year-old Goal-keeper believes that his side can defeat holders Yanga.
“It has been a long journey for us in this year's tournaments. We have had good preparations, and also Unity in the team. The Coach (Stewart Hall), has been very kind and influential, he has done a great job for us reaching where we are now,” Dida told SuperSport.com.
“Our preparations are good, there is a huge competition in the team - it needs everyone to work very hard to get a place. And the players are selected regarding on the performances,” he added.
“I'm looking forward to my first silverware, I will be very happy to win the cup. It will be a Great history for the club, first on winning in our first appearance and secondly against local rivals Yanga. It will be a remarkable day.”
“I call upon all supporters to come out and cheer us on Saturday, and continue giving us more strength to fight. And we will try our best not to let them down.”
This is Azam FC's first appearance in the tournament, and they are looking forward to make history by winning it in their debut.
Last year’s final saw Yanga beat bitter rivals Simba 1-0 in the final.
